welcome to the bay view lounge & alchemist theatre

Milwaukee's original lounge theatre

COMEDY AT THE ALCHEMIST THEATRE & BAY VIEW LOUNGE

The Alchemist Theatre and Bay View Lounge is proud to present some of Milwaukee's best comedy groups and stand-up comedians!

Many of the comedy artists who perform in these groups have studied and performed at Second City, Annoyance Theatre, Improv Olympics and are some of the best from Milwaukee's own Comedy Sportz and the Milwaukee Comedy Festival!

Alchemist comedy strives to be both smart and funny, with a true artistic vision and drive behind all that is performed.
The press has called many of the Alchemist Groups "sophisticated," "smart," "original," and "wildly entertaining."
The comedy drives through nearly inside-joke pop culture references, easy-to-swallow political humor, completely obscure strangeness and occassionally is punctuated by a deliberately groan-inducing fart joke.

broadminded

broadminded, Milwaukee’s only all-female sketch comedy group, has been performing together since 2006. Their shows blend short, live comedic scenes with video performances, often with several sketches playing on a common theme.  Members Stacy Babl, Anne Graff LaDisa, Melissa Kingston, and Megan McGee draw upon their varied backgrounds and comedic training to write, direct and perform all of broadminded’s material.  If you enjoy watching bizarre office antics, awkward professions of love, and songs about incompetent people, then don’t miss broadminded

 MEANWHILE

Meanwhile performs an hour of completely unscripted, improvised comedy.  The scenes they act out are inspired by real-life stories as told by local celebrity guests.  The group features the talents of six Milwaukee comedians: Vince Figueroa, Nick Firer, Alex Grindeland, Beth Lewinski, Andy North and Lee Rowley.  Because they are improvised, every show is different - like snowflakes.  Meanwhile performs every other Friday (-ish) and the shows are only $5.00 (8 cents per minute).
Tickets available HERE.

M.U.T.E.S

The Marvelous Unspeaking Troupe of Entertaining Scoundrels (or M.U.T.E.S.) are the nation's premiere silent film sketch comedy troupe. Taking inspiration from the actors and films of the silent era, The MUTES bring their own original scripts to life on stage, or as roving entertainment at festivals. Our cast features the talents of Jeremy Eineichner, R. Alice Wilson, Greg North, Rachael Lau, Michael Guthrie, Fjosh Redbeard, Sarah Fennig, and Peter Blenski. You've never seen a more colorful cast...in a black and white world.

They're NOT mimes! They're M.U.T.E.S. !

ALCHEMIST OPEN IMPROV

Every tuesday night at 8:00pm The Alchemist Theare hosts Open Improv!
This learning experience is open to improv artists of all levels.
Beginers - this is the perfect place to learn the basic rules of improvisational humor and how to interact with other characters on stage.
Professionals - this night is a fun way to hoan your skills and just have a good time with other improv comedians.   Open improv is only $3 to participate.
The group is run by Patrick Schmitz who is a lead improv instructor at First Stage, co-producer of The Milwaukee Comedy Festival and writer/director of the Alchemist's holiday show "Rudolph, The Pissed-off Reindeer."

LEERICK

LeeRick features Lee Rowley and Rick Katschke where the two ask for a one word suggestion and then improvise an hourlong show where they play all the characters. The Shepherd Express says: "There's a kind of fearlessness there that makes for an interesting hour. They rendered a remarkably detailed set of characters who all had individual personality tics that felt pretty realistic...there is a real potential payoff there for anyone interested in seeing the comedic rapport between two guys tone itself and develop over time." LeeRick performs every other Friday @ 10pm and tickets are only $5.
